Miami
Miami is the second in a projected series of five studies for solo guitar ,the first being Study in moto perpetuo – Brevity can save the nation commissioned as a test piece for the Albert Augustine Memorial competition at the Bath International Guitar festival in 1997.
The title is not as might first be expected a reference to Florida but rather the right hand grouped fingering of middle – index – annular – middle – index that the work concentrates on.Miami develops from a simple starting point with this basic fingering in mind.
Miami was commissioned by Mark Ashford with funds made available by South East Arts Music Schemes.
